Alicia Keys.
First off, I looove the city of New York and Alicia Keys really, really, really, loves her New York so this cape was just the perfect embodiment of that and of this year’s event.
This year’s Met Gala theme was Gilded Glamour and I enjoyed watching celebs come out and do their best to glamourize their looks.
Here are some of my favs. Let me know which were yours and if I missed anyone. It’s been a hell of a Monday and I missed some of the red carpet.
Janelle Monae. Glamourous! I love when Janelle was interviewed on the red carpet and she explained her thoughts behind her look, firstly thanking the seamstresses and everyone who worked on it, mentioning the collaborative effort and that her look is the future.
Kylie Jenner in Off White. I am still processing the loss of Virgil but I so appreciate and love that Kylie included one of his designs on the Met Gala carpet. Very Virgil. Respect.
Sarah Jessica Parker. So I read that SJP spent 10 months preparing this look and put lots of thought into honouring the iconic but hidden Black female designer, Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley. Again, Respect.
Ariana Debose She continues to kill it on the red carpet and this Moschino look is no exception.
Kerry Washington. Took my breath away when I saw her on IG.
Cardi B. I am enjoying this vintage Versace. Nailed it.
Quannah Chasinghorse. LOVE.
Michelle Yeoh. What a stunner.
Ciara. Whew. No words.
Simone Ashley. Gorgeous.
Cynthia Erivo. Glamour and Royalty rolled in one.
Danai Gurira. It’s the hair, dress colour and accessory for me.
Gunna. Okay thorny cape I see you.
Ashton Sanders. I can’t explain it, it just works.
