Black & White overload on Toronto Fashion Week’s first day

Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Listen, I’ve really been feeling black and white these days but everything has a limit.  I’m quite, no, very disappointed at the anti-climatic start to Toronto Fashion Week with David Dixon and Pink Tartan.

Both collections lack colour and these are Spring/Summer 2014 lines!

David Dixon’s pieces have potential with the variety of Black ensembles coupled by floral, frill and lace embrodieries but that’s as far as they go.  He does however, over use that hideous belt black belt.  The only piece I really like is the skirt in the pic above.

Pink Tartan

Pink Tartan’s sophistication on the other hand saves her, but the lack of colour is unforgivable. She has a couple of peach pieces, which I think she should have done more of and one or two pieces in lime green and that’s pretty much it colour-wise.

  • Hi there,
I mean no disrespect, but I believe you missed the point of David Dixon’s collection and his decision behind choosing black and white. Furthermore, it’s not the colour that makes the garment, but the texture, movement and WOMAN that makes the garment what it is.

    • Hi Kate,
Thank you for pointing out my oversight.
I agree with you 100%, however I respectfully disagree in my feeling that neither the texture of these garments nor the models could’ve saved the blandness of this collection, and the colour (or lack thereof in this case) makes it all the more worse.
