Girogio Armani doesn’t just let anyone use the Armani Teatro unless they are special. Introducing: Stella Jean
Stella’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection gives me an intense sense of nostalgia. The fabrics are very familiar to me: the birds, the hypnotizing kaleidoscope patterns, the bold colours and their eclectic aesthetic. I’ve seen women behind the green market at Chisokone wearing these prints, often as wrappers but just like the models, with contrasting head piece. I think they would love Stella’s designs.
The 34 year old mother of two(!!) (no idea how she does it) has used a combination of her Haitian roots and her love of modern elegance to create a beautiful collection that can be worn in the streets of Kitwe, Port-au-Prince, Mombasa and Ipanema. I’m definitely adding a full skirt or two to my wardbrobe this summer and an imitation Stella Jean is on my list!
I’m super pleased to see collections with an African presence dominate in such a huge way and I hope Stella, Duro, Maki Oh and all the others out there continue to give the fashion world something new to look at, talk about and wear season after season. Bravo Stella!
The prints are definitely very summery and light, however the design and cut is a bit awkward. Could be tailored a bit more.
Yep, you’d have to hold your skirt down all evening if you’re outside during the Summer evenings in Cape Town when its hella windy…the prints are cool though.
