I was proud and pleasantly surprised to find learn that Nyasha Matonhodze is a well brought up, grounded young lady who I think is a fitting inspiration for young women entering the industry.

Having been inspired by America’s Next Top Model, her work to the top followed a similar path where she was the youngest (at 16) finalist and winner of the Elite Model Look competition which she won in 2009. She made an impressive debut in during the Spring/Summer 2011 season walking for the likes of Louise Gray, Jonathan Saunders and Ungaro.  She was also chosen as the face of Louis Vuitton’s Autumn/Winter campaign that season.

If you think you’ve seen her lately its because you have.  This Zimbabwean born, London raised model was recently among the models vogueing Rihanna’s River Island line that I posted here.  Shes also been on the covers of Vogue UK and Vogue girl and appeared in countless magazines such as Numero, Vogue Japan and Vogue US.

Nyasha is extremely down to earth and credits the wisdom of her parents as guidance.  She also cites the need to have a strong mind in order to deal with the constant criticism in the industry.  She doesn’t take it personally understanding that its all about the right fit.  She wants the public to know the modelling industry isn’t as easy as people think it is and you have to work hard.

You’ve got this Nyasha. Bravo!
